I offer the town a candidate with extensive criminal and civil law experience. The town courts in NY handle criminal, eviction, and small claims matters. It is essential we have a judge experienced in all facets of the Court- not just one or two. Brighton deserves nothing less.
Monroe County and the State of New York entrusted me to protect the people of our State; Brighton can rely on me as well. I was tasked with guarding victims of child sexual abuse and domestic violence, shield citizens from dangerous intoxicated drivers, and trusted to evaluate the credibility of police, victims, and defendants alike. As a felony prosecutor for Monroe County under District Attorney Mike Green I demonstrated the acumen for criminal law we must demand from the bench.
Since the Brighton Town Justice also handles civil matters this Committee should make sure the nominated candidate has extensive experience in this area of the law. Litigants as diverse as Fortune 500 companies, the State of New York and even your local plumber, retain my services to protect their interests because they know that I have the demonstrated ability to lead in a courtroom. My practice currently employs nearly 100 people and I supervise over 25 attorneys across the State serving as lead trial counsel for my firm’s multidisciplinary practice. I have extensive jury trial experience successfully winning trials in both federal and state courts. Indeed, I am often tasked with guiding my clients’ multi-state trial teams as they litigate cases throughout the entire United States. My experience can now be put to use serving my community.
I have held the hands of victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence and shielded soldiers and civilians alike from the power of the State. We are losing Judge Morris and her nearly three decades of experience to retirement; we cannot afford to have a town judge that has to learn half their job while on the bench.

The youngest and most inexperienced prosecutor and public defender each practice in town courts. They are each tasked with handling the liberty and freedom of our fellow citizens under a crushing volume of work and with little to no experience or guidance. There must be an experienced judge at the helm to make sure that justice is done. Indeed, without an experienced judge orchestrating the courtroom, citizens are likely to be unnecessarily deprived of liberty and justice. Victims must remain protected and the accused must receive a fair trial. Brighton deserves a judge that does not need to learn the job.
A justice with relevant experience ensures our court works for all members of our community.
Demand an experienced town justice familiar with every area of law the court handles- not just one or two. A justice with the relevant experience ensures our court works for all members of our community, not just those able to afford an attorney or intimidate an opponent.
Elect Vik Vilkhu for Brighton Town Justice.
